Qualifications

Five years or more of specialized data architect experience. Demonstrated accomplishment of data architecture and data management assignments that required a wide range knowledge of requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled.

This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of data system design, such as what data interrelationships must be considered, or what database system software and/or configuration is most appropriate for a given project.  Data architecture and data management include data analysis and design, master data management, reference data management, multimedia data management, database administration, data security management, metadata management, data warehousing, business intelligence, and data quality improvement.  Health Data Architecture has full responsibility for some of these areas, and shared responsibility for many others.

The Enterprise Information Architect is responsible for developing and maintaining the logical Enterprise Information Architecture that enables seamless information interoperability of all Bank systems from transaction systems, document management systems and information delivery systems.

Specifically, the Enterprise Information Architect will:

1. Provide technical leadership for developing and maintaining the Bank's enterprise information architecture. Develop, maintain and update the Corporate Data/Information Model and information flows within Bank systems. The Enterprise Information Architect will work in collaboration with project data modelers who are responsible for developing data models that support transaction processing (structured data) and/or information management and delivery (semi-structured and unstructured). Identify gaps in the Corporate Information/Data Model and address them actively in collaboration with the ISG business support teams. Ensure systems alignment with the information lifecycle. Maintain a library of the enterprise information models (i.e., information models, information flows, data dictionaries, etc) and develop/enforce the change control process for the Enterprise Information Architecture artifacts. Create and maintain information modeling approach, monitor and enforce compliance of information standards to minimize redundancies and enhance information quality. Coordinate information/data changes that occur as part of new development, maintenance and enhancements to ensure consistency with the Corporate Information/Data Model. Create processes for capturing and defining information/data, standards, modeling meta models and documentation. Provide information administration guidelines and standards for business requirements analysis and enterprise modeling. Coordinate with development teams and DBAs to ensure creation of physical database and an optimal implementation of the data models/database design.

2. Provide strategic planning and implementation support for Information Management. Lead the development and maintenance of information management standards and conventions (e.g., naming standards, information architecture gates in the IT development projects, etc). Mainstream the Enterprise Information Architecture process standards and good practices for information-centric development processes into the systems development life cycle. Establish procedures to enable tracking and enforcement of information standards. In collaboration with the Information Integration team, define, develop, maintain, and communicate information exchange standards that will be used by downstream systems.

3. Serve as a central point of contact for Enterprise Information Architecture issues. Provide detailed impact analysis assessment for Enterprise Information Architecture components. Collaborate with other IT groups (e.g., Treasury, Development Economics & Chief Economist Unit (DEC), Intl Finance Corporation, IFC) to institutionalize information management policy, standards and project related architectural deliverables. Develop and evangelize Enterprise Information Architecture and transformation plan. Communicate with project teams and other stakeholders to keep them apprised of Enterprise Information Architecture status and relevant issues of interest to clients and their business areas. Align Enterprise Information Architecture efforts with other Enterprise Architecture/ Information Management counterparts to ensure overall alignment of architecture components. Participate enterprise-level information technology roadmap planning and information technology governance activities in general Actively follow-up on audit recommendations related to Enterprise Information Architecture and provide roadmap for implementation.

Selection Criteria

  • Masters degree in software or systems engineering, computer science, information systems management or the equivalent.
  • At least 10 years progressive experience in enterprise information/data related disciplines, i.e., data modeling, architecture and integration.
  • Proven experience in developing information architectures aligned information lifecycle management.

She/he will be responsible for leading and engaging in information integration architecture projects including the design/creation of an enterprise information shared service. Job Description

The Enterprise Architect evangelism is responsible for helping define and evangelize FIC's future product architecture. Specific responsibilities include:

Architecture definition:
• Serve as point person for a particular architecture domain, driving the creation of architecture principles and standards for that domain
• Present principles/standards to architecture board for review and formal approval
• Drive creation of reference architectures, reference implementations, and proofs-of-concept
• Create educational content – e.g. overview presentations, white papers, etc.
• “Publishing” of content for use across FIC

Architecture evangelism:
• Present architecture concepts and standards to FIC solution teams
• Provide ongoing architecture support to solution teams
• Present architecture-related material at internal and external events (summit meetings, partner conferences, trade shows, Interact, etc.)
• Represent FIC's architecture at client/prospect technical meetings

This position can be filled in any of the following locations: San Rafael, CA; Minneapolis, MN; San Diego, CA; Austin, TX; Norcross, GA; or Westminster, CO

Job Requirements

Qualified candidate will have 10 or more years of technology work experience gaining the following skills and competencies:
- Enterprise Architecture experience (preferably with a software product company)
- Hands on experience with J2EE and/or .net
- Strong oral and written presentation skills
- Internal and External Client Interaction experience.
- Use of a variety of architect expression tools such as PowerPoint, etc.

Educational Requirements
-Bachelor's Degree required preferably in Computer Science or Engineering.
-Master's Degree or higher degree preferred but not necessary in Computer or Engineering.

The ideal candidate will possess the following credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent extensive and related experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in the development of distributed, mission critical applications in heterogeneous environments/architectures for multi-user systems.

  • 3+ years of technical leadership and architecture experience.

  • Strong ability to develop technical specifications. 

  • Expertise in broad set of web development technologies: J2EE, EJB, MQ, XML, Web Services, JavaScript, .NET, etc.              

  • Broad understanding of a spectrum of infrastructure technologies: operating systems (Unix, Windows, Linux, security, storage, network, etc.   

  • Expertise in system modeling (UML) and architectural tradeoff analysis. 

  • Solid experiences in relational databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server) and database scripting (e.g. PL/SQL).

  • Exposure to enterprise application integration and experience with messaging technologies (MQ, MSMQ).             

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Rational Unified Process.       

  • Experience with object oriented analysis, design and development.   

  • Working knowledge of mainframe and techniques to interface with mainframe data and CICS transactions.

  • Experience with web reporting tools (Actuate, Business Objects).

  • Solid understanding of mechanisms required for satisfying architectural attributes for a system.

  • Strong leadership capabilities Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Have an aptitude to learn and apply new technologies.

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external clients as needed to clarify business, operational, or technical requirements.

  • Candidates with Project Management experience coupled with Banking/Financial Services industry knowledge a plus!

The Technology Strategy Manager will lead a team, skilled in the disciplines of technology strategy analysis, planning, definition and business-technology strategy alignment and transformation.  One of the key goals of this function is to assist Consumer & Small Business Banking Technology (C&SBBT) in its pursuit of competitive advantage by framing industry opportunities and challenges into specific strategic options; formulating actionable strategies that intersect business and technology; and accelerating implementation through tailored operations and change programs.  Must demonstrate deep & thorough understanding of model-derived strategy assessment and formulation techniques including: leverage and incorporation of industry reference models and enterprise architecture frameworks.    Should be able to provide banking and financial services industry-level key insights to form effective thought leadership in technology strategy formulation within C&SBBT.  Demonstrated experience using technology to set and enable business goals; business case development, planning execution, determining technical feasibility, cost of strategic options, and strategic possibilities enabled by new technologies.  Candidates should have skills in developing effective IT management processes, including those for applications development, IT operations, and asset management.  Prior experience in strategy consulting with deep knowledge in Banking Industry would be ideal.

  • “Sell” the architecture process, its outcome, and ongoing results.
