Architecture Readiness Assessment

In assessing your organization’s readiness (and hence likelihood of success) to adopt the architectural approach indicated by your business strategy, we help you look at:

  • Architectural history: What has happened in our organization’s history, that is architecturally relevant? What did we learn? How has that affected the way architecture is perceived? How does it position us to undertake the current architecture initiative?

  • Business context: How does our current business context affect our architecture readiness? What are the environmental drivers (technology trends, industry analyses, customer demands, competitors’ strategies, workforce trends, etc.) and business imperatives that are causing us to look to architecture as a solution? What is the current business climate (resource rich, or resource constrained)? Are there strong business tides?

  • 3 C’s: How well is our business positioned to take this architecture initiative on? Do we have the capability to do it? Do we have the commitment to see it through? Does the business and architectural strategy have a good fit with our culture or will major cultural hurdles need to be overcome?

This is generally a one day event, attended by the major architecture stakeholders. We use group graphical facilitation as this is very effective both in eliciting and framing the information, and in starting to align the organization behind the architecture initiative.
